Habitat
Subtropical and tropical moist lowland and swamp forest. From sea-level - 750 m.

Range (Guide)

Bolivia, Brazil, Ecuador, Peru.

Western Amazonia from eastern Ecuador (Sucumbios) and south-eastern Colombia (Amazonas) south to eastern Peru, western Brazil (western Amazonas, Acre) and northern Bolivia.

Subspecies
No subspecies.

Genus formerly subsumed in Psarocolius, but mitochondrial DNA indicates that this species belongs to a separate clade together with Band-tailed Oropendola (Cacicus latirostris). As its morphology is quite different from that of Band-tailed Oropendola (Cacicus latirostris), a generic separation is recognized.
