Subspecies
Forms a superspecies with Dybowski's Twinspot (Euschistospiza dybowskii).
The following 2 subspecies are recognised:
- cinereovinacea (Sousa, 1889) - Western Angola.
- graueri (Rothschild, 1909) - Mountains of Albertine Rift in DRCongo, south-western Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi.
