Habitat
Subtropical and tropical lowland dry grassland, pastureland.

Range (Guide)
South Africa (B).

Vagrant to Botswana, Zambia.

Little known. Occurs in austral winter in central South Africa: observed in Kimberley area (eastern Northern Cape-western Free State), and recorded also from near Colesberg (south of R Orange) and Beaufort West (eastern Western Cape). Probably breeds farther north, on Barotse floodplains in Zimbabwe.
