Subspecies
No subspecies.
Recent studies suggest that it is most closely linked phylogenetically to Jackson's Pipit (Anthus latistriatus). Formerly treated as part of expanded "Anthus novaeseelandiae complex", and synonymized with subspecies bocagei of African Pipit (Anthus cinnamomeus) by some authors. Described subspecies editus (from Lesotho) and lwenarum (from north-western Zambia) considered indistinguishable from other populations.
