Subspecies
The following 3 subspecies are recognised:
bengalensis Jerdon, 1863 - Northern and north-eastern India (Uttar Pradesh east to Assam and Manipur) and adjacent southern Nepal and north-eastern Bangladesh.
striatus Styan, 1892 - South-eastern Myanmar (Tenasserim), north-eastern Vietnam (eastern Tonkin) and southern China (Hainan). Considered by some authors to be a distinct species, Chinese Grass-babbler (Graminicola striatus).
sinicus Stresemann, 1923 - South-eastern China (Guangxi, northern Guangdong). Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Chinese Grass-babbler (Graminicola striatus).
