Subspecies
The following 3 subspecies are recognised:
schisticeps (Gray, 1846) - Nepal and adjacent northern India (extreme eastern Uttaranchal; Sikkim, northern West Bengal).
flavimentalis (Baker, ECS, 1924) - Bhutan, north-eastern India (Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Nagaland and Manipur), southern China (southern Xizang) and western Myanmar.
ripponi (Sharpe, 1902) - Northern and eastern Myanmar, southern China (southern Sichuan, western Yunnan) and north-western Vietnam (western Tonkin).
