Subspecies
Has sometimes been treated as conspecific with Dusky Warbler (Phylloscopus fuscatus).
The following 3 subspecies are recognised:
fuligiventer (Hodgson, 1845) - Breeds Himalayas of central Nepal and south-western China (southern Xizang), Sikkim and Bhutan. Non-breeding adjacent foothills and northern and north-eastern India.
tibetanus Ticehurst, 1937 - Breeds Himalayas of eastern Nepal and south-western China (south-eastern Xizang). Non-breeding north-eastern India (Arunachal Pradesh and northern Assam).
weigoldi Stresemann, 1923 - Breeds western-central China (southern Qinghai and eastern Xizang east to north-western Sichuan). Non-breeding Himalayan foothills of Nepal east to north-eastern India (Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur), Bangladesh, Andaman Is and northern Myanmar. Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Dusky Warbler (Phylloscopus fuscatus).
