Habitat
Dense sedges, small, isolated swamps in the forest zone. From 400 - 800 m.

Range (Guide)

Cameroon (B) (NB), Central African Republic (B) (NB), Gabon (B) (NB).

South-eastern Cameroon, south-western Central African Republic and southern Gabon.

Rarity Status
Currently this species is not classified as a rarity in this country OR information has not been updated.

Population
Estimated population is 1,000 - 2,499 (2010).

Status NT
Habitat destruction and degradation through forest clearance accompanied by the drainage of adjacent swamps appears to be the main threat.

Voice
A slow 'chiddup chiddup' which speeds up into staccato call, very often given in display flight and accompanied with whirring of wings.

Subspecies
No subspecies.

Forms a superspecies with Grauer's Swamp-Warbler (Bradypterus graueri). These two, together with Little Rush-warbler (Bradypterus baboecala) and White-winged Swamp-Warbler (Bradypterus carpalis), make up a group of four swamp-dwelling Afrotropical species.
