Subspecies
May form a superspecies with Sunda Bush-Warbler (Horornis vulcania) and has been considered conspecific, but differs in vocalizations. Subspecies robustipes often treated as a separate species, and then generally including Yellowish-bellied Bush-Warbler (Horornis acanthizoides) as a subspecies; such treatment may be appropriate, but true affinities require further consideration.
The following 4 subspecies are recognised:
pallida (Brooks, WE, 1871) - North-western Himalayas from northern Pakistan (Swat, Hazara and Murree Hills) and Vale of Kashmir east to western Nepal.
fortipes (Hodgson, 1845) - Eastern Nepal east to southern China (south-eastern Xizang), Bhutan, north-eastern India and western and northern Myanmar.
davidiana (J. Verreaux, 1870) - Central, southern and south-eastern China south to northern Laos and northern Vietnam.
