Subspecies
Sometimes placed in genus Prinia , but considered a relict species that has been isolated since the late Miocene or early Pliocene.
The following 3 subspecies are recognised:
epichlorus (Reichenow, 1892) - South-eastern Nigeria and southern part of south-western Cameroon highlands.
cinderella Bates, 1928 - Northern part of south-western Cameroon highlands.
mariae Alexander, 1903 - Bioko I (Fernando Póo).
