Habitat
Riverine and swamp vegetation, by permanent water, ponds and old cultivation, dense, thornless Tamarix senegalensis shrubs 3-4 m high on humid salt soils, and occasionally in reeds but avoiding dense reed-beds.
Cameroon (B), Chad (B), Mali (B), Niger (B), Senegal (B).
South-western Mauritania and western Senegambia eastern very locally (mainly on R Niger and around L Chad) to western Chad; also north-western Kenya (Lokichokio).
