Habitat
Subtropical and tropical lowland moist forest. From sea-level - 1,800 m.

Angola, Benin, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Congo [The Democratic Republic of the], Congo [The Democratic Republic of the], C�te dIvoire, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-bissau, Liberia, Mali, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Sudan, Tanzania [United Republic of], Togo, Uganda.

Senegambia and southern Guinea east to extreme southern Sudan (Imatong Mts) and eastern Uganda, south to northern Angola and southern DRCongo, also extreme north-western and western Tanzania.

Subspecies
No subspecies.

Systematic position of genus long a subject of debate. Further investigation required. Forms a superspecies with Eastern Nicator (Nicator gularis), and often considered conspecific.
