Northern coast of Yucatán Peninsula from approximately Celestún east to El Cuyo (mostly in Yucatán state, marginally northern Campeche), in eastern Mexico.

Subspecies
No subspecies.
Has been thought by some to form a superspecies with Boucard's Wren (Campylorhynchus jocosus) and Cactus Wren (Campylorhynchus brunneicapillus). Sometimes regarded as a subspecies of Cactus Wren (Campylorhynchus brunneicapillus), but differs significantly in plumage, voice, behaviour and nest form.
