Subspecies
Sometimes treated as conspecific with Yellow-faced Myna (Mino dumontii). Birds from south-western Bismarcks (New Britain and Umboi) described as subspecies giliau, and smaller birds from eastern Solomons (Guadalcanal and Malaita) described as sanfordi.
The following 3 subspecies are recognised:
giliau Stresemann, 1922 - New Britain and Umboi (Bismarck Arch.).
kreffti (Sclater, PL, 1869) - Bismarck Archipelago, northern and central Solomon Islands.
sanfordi Hartert, 1929 - Guadalcanal and Malaita (eastern Solomons).
