Habitat
Subtropical and tropical lowland moist forest.

Rarity Status
Currently this species is not classified as a rarity in this country OR information has not been updated.
Status EX
Described by most visitors to the island from 1669 onwards, it was apparently common as late as the 1830s. The last specimen was shot in 1837, and the species became extinct between 1850 and 1860. The reasons for extinction are not clear but may be due to introduced disease, hunting, fires, drought and deforestation.
