Subspecies
Possibly more appropriately placed in a monotypic genus on account of its smaller size and different pattern compared with current congeners. Has been thought to form a superspecies with Sumatran Cochoa (Cochoa beccarii), and has often been considered conspecific, but differs significantly in size and plumage.
No subspecies.
Similar Species
Male Javan Whistling-Thrush (Myophonus glaucinus) which generally frequents lower storey of forest, is much plumper and uniform blue.
