Afghanistan (B) (NB), Bhutan, China (mainland), India, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Thailand, Uzbekistan, Vietnam.

Eastern Uzbekistan, Tadjikistan and Afghanistan (recently recorded Kyrgyzstan) east through Himalayas to central and north-eastern China, northern Myanmar and northern Indochina.

Voice
A long, sharply whistled 'teeeee' or 'shviiit'. Song is a repeated melancholic whistled phrase 'tieu-yieu-yieu-yieu'.
