Subspecies
Has sometimes been placed in genus Dryocichloides or in Sheppardia or Oreocossypha.
The following 2 subspecies are recognised:
- batesi (Bannerman, 1922) - Eastern Nigeria and western Cameroon.
- isabellae (Gray, 1862) - Mt Cameroon (south-western Cameroon).
