Subspecies
Subspecies intergrade. May better be treated as monotypic.

The following 2 subspecies are recognised:

angolensis Sousa, 1888 - Angola and southern DRCongo east to northern, southern and south-western Tanzania and Rwanda and south to northern Zambia.
hylophilus Clancey, 1965 - Southern Zambia, western Malawi, western Mozambique, north-eastern Botswana and Zimbabwe.
