Subspecies
Has been proposed that distinctive subspecies albifrons be elevated to species rank.
The following 2 subspecies are recognised:
erythropygius (Jerdon, 1840) - Western and central India (mainly Gujarat and from central Rajasthan and western Haryana east to Bihar and south to central Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh).
albifrons Jerdon, 1862 - Plains of central Myanmar. Considered by some authors to be a distinct species, Jerdon's Minivet (Pericrocotus albifrons).
