Subspecies
True affinities uncertain. Possibly belongs in a separate, monotypic family.
The following 2 subspecies are recognised:
brunnea (De Vis, 1890) - Weyland Mts and Nassau Range, in west-central New Guinea.
kowaldi (De Vis, 1890) - Central and eastern highlands of New Guinea, including Huon Peninsula.
