Habitat
Primary forest, with shady areas and an open understory.

Range (Guide)

Indonesia (B) (NB), Papua New Guinea (B) (NB).

Scattered localities in New Guinea, including Batanta I, Wandammen Mts, Bomberai Peninsula, Weyland Mts, Astrolabe Bay, L Kutubu, Mt Bosavi, Karimui, and several localities in south-eastern (e.g. R Angabunga-R Goldie area).

Rarity Status
Currently this species is not classified as a rarity in this country OR information has not been updated.

Population
Estimated population is unknown (2010) and decreasing.

Status NT
Habitat destruction through logging may be a threat.

Subspecies
No subspecies.

Formerly placed in a monotypic genus, Genneadryas. Possibly closer to Eopsaltria species than to current congeners. Further study is required.
