Subspecies
Genus close to Microeca, and possibly better merged with it. New Britain subspecies may conceivably represent a separate species. Further study is required.

The following 2 subspecies are recognised:

muelleriana (Schlegel, 1871) - New Guinea.
coultasi Mayr, 1934 - New Britain, in Bismarck Archipelago. Considered by some authors to be a distinct species, New Britain Flyrobin (Monachella coultasi).
