Northern and eastern Australia: central-eastern Northern Territory (sparse) and Queensland W
of Great Divide and south of c. 20° southern (though few records in south-west) south,
on and west of Great Divide, to northern Victoria.
 
From northern Queensland to southern Victoria, mainly in the sub-interior.
Nest
Small, cup-shaped, composed of fine rootlets and fiber and bound with cobweb, placed in the outermost drooping branches of a eucalypt, alaleuca or casuarina, usually 3 - 20 m above the ground. Often the nest appears very fragile with the eggs being visible from beneath.
Eggs (Guide)
2; salmon-pink, with small spots of red-brown and lilac, particularly at the larger end; oval; about 20 x 15 mm. Incubation: about 14 - 15 days; by both sexes.
Young
Altricial, nidicolous. Fledge in 12 - 14 days.
