Subspecies
The following 3 subspecies are recognised:
cinereus (Sclater, 1873) - Mountains of Vogelkop Peninsula, in north-western New Guinea.
dorsalis Stresemann and Paludan, 1934 - Weyland Mts and southern slopes of western Nassau Mts, in western New Guinea.
marmoratus (Sharpe, 1882) - Central Ranges of New Guinea eastern from Weyland Mts, also Adelbert Mts and mountains of Huon Peninsula (including Herzog Mts).
