Common. Sedentary.

Habitat
Mostly wet and dry sclerophyll forests, but also woodlands, subalpine forest, temperate rainforest, wet scrub, coastal heathland, parks, gardens and orchards.

Nest
Cup-shaped, composed of bark and grasses, lined with fur, hair or other soft materials, placed in a dense bush close to the ground.

Eggs (Guide)
2 or 3; pale buff-pink, delicately spotted and freckled with red-brown and purple-grey, mostly at the the larger end; oval; about 23 x 16 mm. Incubation: about 15 days.

Young
Altricial, nidicolous. Fledge in about 14 - 16 days.

Subspecies
No subspecies.

Forms a superspecies with White-eared Honeyeater (Nesoptilotis leucotis).
