The following 5 subspecies are recognised:
analoga (Reichenbach, 1852) - West Papuan Is (Waigeo, Batanta, Salawati, Misool) and most of mainland New Guinea.
papuae Salomonsen, 1966 - Southern New Guinea (Fly River to Hall Sound).
flavida Stresemann and Paludan, 1932 - Yapen I and Meos Num (in Geelvink Bay), and northern New Guinea Eastern, including Kairiru I and Mushu I (off Wewak), to Astrolabe Bay.
longirostris (Ogilvie-Grant, 1911) - Aru Is.
connectens Salomonsen, 1966 - Lowlands of northern New Guinea (Wewak to Huon Gulf).
