Tayandu Is (Ree, Tayandu), Koer Is (Kilsoein), Manggoer, Fathol, Taam, Kai Is (Kai Besar, Er) and Godan I, in south-eastern Moluccas, and Wetar, Romang, Damar, Leti, Moa, Luang, Sermata, Babar and Tanimbar Is (including Larat, Loetoe and Moloe), in eastern Lesser Sundas.

Subspecies
No subspecies.
Forms a superspecies with Silver-eared Honeyeater (Lichmera alboauricularis). Populations of Tanimbar Is sometimes separated as geographical subspecies salvadorii (type locality Timorlaut) and those from elsewhere in eastern Lesser Sundas as kebirensis (type locality Babar I), but more study is needed.
