Habitat
Subtropical and tropical moist montane forest. From 2,450 - 3,200 m, occasionally 2,100 - 3,500 m.

Range (Guide)

Bolivia, Peru.

Andes, from northern Peru (Amazonas) south to north-central Bolivia (Cochabamba).

Subspecies
No subspecies.

Forms a superspecies with Flammulated Treehunter (Thripadectes flammulatus), and suggested by some authors as being possibly conspecific. Some specimens from southern Peru (Cuzco) and Bolivia (Cochabamba) more reddish rufescent than those farther north, perhaps representing undescribed subspecies.
