Subtropical and tropical moist shrubland, inland wetlands. From sea-level - 150 m.

Range (Guide)

Brazil, Colombia, Peru.

R Amazon and some major tributaries in north-eastern Peru (southern along R Ucayali), extreme south-eastern Colombia (south-eastern Amazonas) and Brazil (east to extreme eastern Par�, including lower R Juru� and lower R Purus, and southern along R Madeira to near Bolivian border).

Subspecies
No subspecies.

Some authors include Cranioleuca in present genus because of general morphological similarities, but most treat them as separate genera because of differences in nest structure.

Proposed subspecies frenatus (from eastern Brazil) is not diagnosable.
