Habitat
Subtropical and tropical dry grassland, temperate grassland. From sea-level - 1,000 m.
Argentina.
Central Argentina, from Mendoza south to Chubut. Winters north to northern Argentina.

Subspecies
No subspecies.
Placed in Myiotheretes by early authors, and more recently sometimes included with seemingly dissimilar Salinas Monjita (Xolmis salinarum ) in Neoxolmis . Possibly some affinities with Agriornis . Further study is needed.
