Habits
Usually alone or in pairs, perching inconspicuously in shady vine-tangles, from which it makes aerial sallies into sunlit gaps.
Voice
Song is a burry 'zhweéur zhweer-zhwer-zhwer'. Most vocal during rainy season.

Similar Species
Greyer than all other similar flycatchers, except sympatric race of Southern Tropical Pewee (Contopus cinereus), which is larger, lacks bold wing-bars and eye-ring, and behaves very differently.
