Habitat
Marine, pelagic, in subtropical waters, migrating in the non-breeding season through the tropics to subtropical and subarctic waters of the northern Pacific.

Breeds at the Poor Knights Islands, New Zealand, dispersing into the North Pacific, reaching the coasts of eastern Australia north to Stradbroke Island, Qld.
