Does not breed in Australia. Breeds on Rangitira Island and Chatham Island (Late November - early June).

Nest
In a chamber at the end of a burrow, a shallow or deep bowl, lined with dead leaves and some twigs

Eggs (Guide)
?; white; oval; 52 x 38 mm. Incubation: about 10 - 15 days; both sexes.

Young
Semi-altricial, nidicolous.

Subspecies
No subspecies.

Similar Species
Unmistakable if underwing pattern is clearly seen but otherwise with Black-winged Petrel (Pterodroma nigripennis).
