Vagrant to Nicaragua.

Subspecies
The following 3 subspecies are recognised:

salmoni Sclater, PL & Salvin, 1875 - Costa Rica east to Venezuela and south to northern Bolivia.
fasciatum (Such, 1825) - South-eastern Brazil and north-eastern Argentina.
pallescens Olrog, 1950 - North-western Argentina.
