Vagrant to Bahrain, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Faroe Islands, Iceland, Ireland, Oman, Seychelles, Somalia, Swaziland, Uzbekistan.

Europe and western Asia, from Spain, France, south-eastern England and eastern Scandinavia through western Russia and Caucasus to R Ob in south-western Siberia. Winters mostly in Africa south of Sahara.

Nest
Twigs, branches, often with green material, in a tree, often built on an old nest.

Eggs (Guide)
7 - 13; creamy-white; ellipsoidal. Incubation: 34 - 35 days; by male.

Subspecies
Forms superspecies with Oriental Honey Buzzard (Pernis ptilorhynchus), with which sometimes considered conspecific.
