Canada (B), Japan, Russia (Asian), USA (B).
Northern Japan (Hokkaido) through Kuril Is, Sakhalin and Sea of Okhotsk to northern Chukotskiy Peninsula, and western Alaska (Diomede Is, Cape Thompson) south to Aleutians, east through Gulf of Alaska (Kodiak Archipelago) and south to British Columbia (Queen Charlotte Is, Triangle I) and central California (Farallon Is). Winters mostly at sea and along coasts from Kamchatka Peninsula and southern Alaska south through breeding range, rarely to southern Japan and southern California.
