Blackish Oystercatcher (Haematopus ater)

Large. Medium, straight bill. Sexes alike.

Adults: Upperparts and underparts entirely black. Eyering, bright red. Eye, yellow. Bill, red with a pale tip. Legs, dull pink.

Juveniles: Light adult but mantle, scapulars, wing-coverts, have brown fringes. Eyering, orange-brown. Eye, dark brown. Bill, pale orange-yellow with a dusky tip. Legs, dull pink.
