Estimated population is 8,400 (2010) and stable.

Status VU
Predation by introduced mammals, particularly the Black Rat Rattus rattus is the main threat.

Food
Invertebrates, including earthworms and moths, centipedes, insects, insect larvae, berries and seeds.

Voice
Loud, trilling call, various soft contact 'tchik' calls. A harsh, loud 'chip' alarm call.
