Subspecies
Forms a superspecies with Barking Imperial-Pigeon (Ducula latrans), Chestnut-bellied Imperial-Pigeon (Ducula brenchleyi) and Vanuatu Imperial-Pigeon (Ducula bakeri). This group also shows some affinities with the Pinon's Imperial-Pigeon (Ducula pinon) species-group.
