Subspecies
Forms a species-group with D. aenea and D. concinna.

The following 2 subspecies are recognised:

perspicillata (Temminck, 1824) - Northern, western and south-western Moluccas (Morotai, Loleba Besar, Halmahera, Widi, Damar, Ternate, Tidore, Moti, Kayoa, Kasiruta, Bacan, Obi, Bisa, Buru) and western Papuan Is (Kofiau).
neglecta (Schlegel, 1866) - Southern Moluccas (Boano, Seram, Ambon and Saparua). Considered by some authors to be a distinct species, Seram Imperial-Pigeon (Ducula neglecta).
