Habits
Gregarious and nomadic. Often associates with Green Imperial-Pigeon (Ducula aenea).
Voice
A 'po po po po po'.
Subspecies
A distinctive species of uncertain affinities, perhaps most closely allied to the D. poliocephala species-group.
The following 3 subspecies are recognised:
- carola (Bonaparte, 1854) - Luzon, Mindoro and Sibuyan (northern Philippines).
- nigrorum (Whitehead, J, 1897) - Negros and Siquijor (east-central Philippines).
- mindanensis (Ogilvie-Grant, 1905) - Mindanao (south-eastern Philippines).
