Subspecies
Related to the White-tipped Dove (Leptotila verreauxi) superspecies complex.
The following 4 subspecies are recognised:
gaumeri (Lawrence, 1885) - South-eastern Mexico in northern Yucatán Peninsula, islands of Holbox, Mujeres and Cozumel, north-eastern Belize (Ambergris Cay), and Honduran islands of Barbareta, Roatán and Little Hog.
collaris (Cory, 1886) - Cayman Is.
jamaicensis (Linnaeus, 1766) - Jamaica.
neoxena (Cory, 1887) - San Andrés I (off central-eastern Nicaragua).
