Nest
A slight hollow scooped in the ground, lined with soft dead grass, in the shelter of a tuft of grass or a stone.
Eggs (Guide)
2; smooth, glossy, white; ellipsoidal; about 26 - 30 x 20 - 22 mm. Incubation: about 17 days; by both sexes.
Young
Semi-altricial, nidicolous. Fledge in about 15 days.
albipennis Gould, 1841 - North-eastern western Australia, in Kimberley region from Oobagooma to Kununurra, and northern Northern Territory, north of Baines R and into ranges of Fitzmaurice R.
boothi Goodwin, 1969 - Northern Northern Territory, from Stokes Range to Waterloo Station and south-east to upper reaches of Baines R.
Similar Species
Chestnut-quilled Rock-Pigeon (Petrophassa rufipennis) which has chestnut wing patches and found further to the east.
