Nest
A frail platform of twigs, usually in a bushy horizontal branch, up to 7 - 8 meters above the ground.
Eggs (Guide)
2; smooth, glossy, white; oval; about 31 x 23 mm. Incubation: 18 - 20 days; by both sexes.
Young
Semi-altricial, nidicolous. Fledge in 20 - 25 days.
Subspecies
The following 2 subspecies are recognised:
lophotes (Temminck, 1822) - Throughout much of Australia, including, eastern NT, Qld (except Cape York Peninsula), Nsouth-western (except south-east), northern Vic and WA (except central and northern regions) and coastal NT.
whitlocki Mathews, 1912 - Central and northern WA, and adjacent regions of NT and SA.
