Habitat
Subtropical forests.

Range (Guide)
Japan (E) (B).

Endemic to Nakoudo-jima, Chichi-jima and Ogasawara Islands (Bonin Islands).
 
Rarity Status
Currently this species is not classified as a rarity in this country OR information has not been updated.

Status EX
Presumed extinct. Not recorded since 1889 on Nakoudo-jima. Cause of extinction is unclear but may have been caused by habitat destruction and predation by introduced rats and cats.
