Subspecies
The following 5 subspecies are recognised:

pallida Phelps & Phelps Jr, 1952 - Western and central Venezuela and possibly north-eastern Colombia.
leucopyga (Spix, 1825) - Eastern Venezuela east through the Guianas and northern Brazil.
exigua Friedmann, 1945 - Southern Venezuela and eastern Colombia.
latifascia Friedmann, 1945 - Extreme southern Venezuela.
majuscula Pinto & Camargo, 1952 - Western and central Brazil and northern and eastern Bolivia; recently recorded in north-eastern Peru.
