Nest
Composed of moss, glued together with saliva, on overhanging cliffs or in caves.

Subspecies
Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Polynesian Swiftlet (Aerodramus leucophaeus).

The following 2 subspecies are recognised:

ocistus (Oberholser, 1906) - Northern Marquesas Islands (Eiao, Nukuhiva and Uahuka).
gilliardi (Somadikarta, S, 1994) - Southern Marquesas Islands (Uapou, Hivaoa and Tahuata).
