South-eastern Peru and north-western Bolivia, and probably adjacent western Brazil.

Status NT
Habitat destruction and degradation through logging, and clearance for development, oil/gas extraction and mining, with associated road-building and human colonisation, is the main threat.

Subspecies
Forms a superspecies with Tepui Parrotlet (Nannopsittaca panychlora).
