Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay.

North-eastern Bolivia and northern Paraguay to east-central and south-western Brazil and northern Argentina.

Subspecies
Normally placed in genus Ara. Forms superspecies with Blue-winged Macaw (Primolius maracana) and Blue-headed Macaw (Primolius couloni).
